Owner / Chef
Mike Smith, owner and executive chef of THYME TABLE, THYME CATERING CLE and THYME TRAVELER TRUCK started his career in the industry as a dishwasher at the age of 15.
He attended Miami University pursuing a degree in history and religion while simultaneously working in the restaurant industry. His passion for food elevated and he discovered that working in a kitchen was where he felt most at home.
Mike has since filled every position the restaurant industry has to offer. While he’s spent years in fine dining, serving presidents, politicians, celebrities, celebrating with our clients at weddings and special events is where he is happiest .
When he’s not holding down the fort in the kitchen, he’s holding it down at home. Mike and his wife, Tess, reside in Bay Village with their five children.
Our concept is simple. Good food. Good drinks. Good friends.”
Director of Special Events
We’d love to introduce you THYME’S director of special events, Amanda Davidson.
Amanda graduated locally from Avon Lake High School following that up with a degree from Kent State in hospitality management. Amanda started her career in the industry like many of us do by waiting tables at a locally owned restaurant. She fell in love with the industry and eventually moved on to country clubs and hotels.
Amanda Started working in the events and catering industry several years ago and quickly decided this was her niche. It’s amazing to see her bring events to life starting with just a phone call to completion. She’s been an incredibly valuable team member and we’re beyond grateful for the knowledge and dedication she brings to THYME.
Amanda and her husband were married just 3 years ago. She completely understands the stresses and excitement in planning a wedding and offers a wealth of knowledge and deep understanding for our clients.
She has discovered a love for cooking, exploring wine and dining out all over Cleveland with her husband. They recently welcomed their first child and have been pretty comfy at home watching him discover their little world.
If you’re interested in planning your next event with THYME, Amanda would be happy to help you book with us.
We’d love to introduce you THYME’S Pastry Genius, Laura
Around the Village this "sweet" gal needs no introduction.
Laura Jerina Potts grew up in Bay Village and received her culinary degree from IUP Academy of Culinary Arts. She has since traveled around the States and has served as a pastry chef for over a decade before hanging up her apron to raise her girls.. She recently moved back to CLE and started in the catering kitchen at THYME in 2017.
She has been invaluable to us and we’re thrilled to have her join us full time as our pastry chef at the restaurant, and on the catering team.
Laura focuses on creating visually stunning pastries and desserts that taste exceedingly better than they look. Her attention to the entire dessert experience is admirable.
Luke graduated from Brunswick, Ohio and then studied at Cuyahoga Community College where
he pursued a degree in Theater and Liberal Arts. He has been actively involved in the Cleveland
Theater scene for over 20 years as an actor, comedian, and costume designer. He has had the
privilege of performing at the historic Cleveland Playhouse, Playhouse Square’s 14 th street
Theater, Pickwick and Frolic, and numerous other venues.
He got his start in the service industry as a server and certified trainer for a national restaurant
chain (rhymes with dead mobster…). After years of helping friends plan/coordinate their
weddings, he started with Thyme in 2019 and happily joined the team full time as an event
coordinator in 2021.
Luke lives in Bay Village with his wife Laura, and 3 kids, Lucy, Levi, and Lincoln. They love
exploring our awesome city and take full advantage of the local arts, culture, and food scene.
We’d love to introduce you to one of THYME’S event planners, Alexia.
Alexia is a small town girl, but learned later in life that the big city of Cleveland was calling her name. She attended college at Cleveland State University securing a degree in healthcare. Over the years, she found herself in her free time hosting & planning events for close friends and family. Alexia enjoyed the thrill so much she decided to take a leap of faith and pursue her passion further, by joining our team in April 2021.
Her attention to detail and creativity is what makes Alexia a great fit for our team. Oh, and did we forget to mention she’s the hands behind our amazing Instagram account!
Alexia recently married her husband 1 year ago and they are both now raising their goldendoodle puppy, Oliver. You may just run into her locally as she is an avid thrifter and is always finding a new restaurant to try.
Innovative ideas. We are committed to maintaining a high level of service and creating amazing menus for you. We limit the number of events to ensure that each event gets the detailed focus that it deserves. In the Cleveland market, we aim to be trend setters, not followers. We’re not caught up in old ideas, but rather constantly seeking what's next
Experience and execution. Our team has expertise in large and complex events and we are known for executing at a high level. Whether it is a high end plated dinner or VIP cocktail party, you’ll get professionalism and organization that is top notch.
Our service is top notch. We consider every member of our service staff to be part of the Thyme family.
We only hire the best in the business, and believe that they are what make events special. We will never hire temporary staff, and make sure that our crew cares as much about your event as you do.
Our delicious menus are custom designed for your event, instead of being picked from a list of “packages.” We will work with you to find a menu that truly tells your story, and fits your unique style and taste
